John Maine avoided arbitration today by signing a one year deal worth reportedly 3.3MM.The 28 y/o has been with the Mets since 2006 when he was a throw-in, in a trade where the Mets received reliever Jorge Julio and sent starter Kris Benson to the Orioles. As a Met he's 32-14 with an ERA around 4.20, in 2007 he was a 15 game winner with a 3.91 ERA. The last two seasons he has struggled with shoulder injuries but entering this season Maine says he feels better then he has in two years. "Last year was just unfortunate," Maine said. "Hopefully, it was an oddity. I feel fine. I've never been hurt other than what's happened recently. I'm just doing what I do normally [and] a little more rehab. I feel fine." source MLB.com
