Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has reported that the Royals have contacted the Mets regarding R.A. Dickey. At this point it is unknown how far the talks have gone, and whether or not any names were discussed.
The Royals are on the prowl for starting pitching, which has been their major downfall the past few seasons. The Royals have recently been linked to Jon Lester, James Shields, and now the Mets R.A. Dickey. They have a ton a young hitting with players such as Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, and Billy Butler. They have been a bit hesitant to deal those young hitters thus far, but for the right deal i’m sure they would consider it. The Royals also have young phenom prospects such as Bubba Starling and Wil Myers down in the minors.
The Royals have a surplus of hitting and are in desperate need of pitching. The Mets have a surplus of pitching, but need some bats to strengthen the lineup around Wright and Davis. This could be a match.
It’s obvious that despite the Mets interes...
BEST OF MAXIM
At seasons end Dickey called he and Wright a “package deal.”
Now that the Mets have locked up David Wright to an extension, they will probably shift their attention to the 2012 Cy Young award winner, RA Dickey. Could it be the reason why David Wright agreed to sign on the dotted line was because he and Dickey are truly a package deal, and now the Mets are going to lock up Dickey...
Total Mets is a must-have account of Mets history. Fans old and new will enjoy this well-written account by David Ferry.
I wonder how my career might have turned out had I played for another team. Quite honestly, I think it might have been easier for me in the major leagues. When you start your career on a bad ballclub, everything is centered around yourself.–However, I was fortunate...
The Mets declined to offer contracts to outfielder Andres Torres, right-hander Mike Pelfrey and right-handed reliever Manny Acosta on Friday.
The three players will become free agents on Saturday.
The switch-hitting Torres hit .239 with 15 homers and 57 RBIs this season for New York.
Pelfrey, who has spent parts of seven seasons with New York, appeared in only three games this...
1974 TOPPS DECKLE EDGE FELIX MILLAN
What the heck is a deckle?
Well, a “deckle” is a frame used when making paper by hand; by extension, a “deckle edge” is the rough, untrimmed edge that results from this process. Head to your local antiquarian book seller for a quick reference…
Topps was not seeking to educate the youth of America in the finer details of 18th century...
It was three weeks ago when we elected a president. After a long, nasty, ugly, expensive and bitter campaign we survived and made it to Election Day. And boom! Just like that more than 57 million Americans, those who voted for Mitt Romney, were pissed off. No matter who would be sworn in in January, literally half this nation would be upset. It was really a no-win situation.
The Mets used to own the Braves. From 1975 to 1980, New York was 44-28 (.611) against Atlanta. And from 1984 to 1990, the Mets were even better, going 57-27 (.679) against the team they beat in the very first NLCS. But brother, things ain’t what they used to be.
They say a generation is about 20 years, which means we have an entire generation of people who have known only the Braves...
Right-hander Felipe Paulino and the Kansas City Royals have agreed to a $1.75 million contract that avoided salary arbitration, a cut of $150,000.
The deal announced Thursday contract $250,000 in performance bonuses.
Paulino opened the season on the disabled list because of a strained forearm, then went 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA in seven starts before tearing a ligament in his right...
According to reports out of Kansas City and Boston, the Royals have discussed trading outfield prospect Wil Myers to the Red Sox and Rays in deals that would net them Jon Lester or James Shields respectively. These discussions are the fruit of the Royals desire to upgrade a rotation that posted an ERA- of 122 as a group last year, the fourth worst mark of any club in baseball. ...
From the Amsterdam Mohawks
Former New York Mets and Yankees pitching legend Dwight "Doc" Gooden will serve as the keynote speaker at the February 2 Amsterdam Baseball / Mohawks Baseball Hall of Fame Dinner. The sixth annual event will be held at Saint Marys Institute in Amsterdam and is expected to draw a record breaking crowd.
Tickets to the event are available...
The Kansas City Royals have signed infielder Chris Getz to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $1.05 million plus $150,000 in potential incentives, The Kansas City Star reported. Getz is projected to the team's second baseman next season. Getz hit .275 last season in 64 games. He was sidelined for the final six weeks with a broken thumb.
The Royals need another front of the rotation starter, even after acquiring Ervin Santana and Jeremy Guthrie. With a $70MM “soft” salary cap (which many argue is too low), the Royals say they’re willing to trade top outfield prospect Wil Myers for starting pitching. Names such as Tampa Bay’s James Shields and Boston’s Jon Lester have come up, but so far they’re nothing...
