Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has reported that the Royals have contacted the Mets regarding R.A. Dickey. At this point it is unknown how far the talks have gone, and whether or not any names were discussed. The Royals are on the prowl for starting pitching, which has been their major downfall the past few seasons. The Royals have recently been linked to Jon Lester, James Shields, and now the Mets R.A. Dickey. They have a ton a young hitting with players such as Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, and Billy Butler. They have been a bit hesitant to deal those young hitters thus far, but for the right deal i’m sure they would consider it. The Royals also have young phenom prospects such as Bubba Starling and Wil Myers down in the minors. The Royals have a surplus of hitting and are in desperate need of pitching. The Mets have a surplus of pitching, but need some bats to strengthen the lineup around Wright and Davis. This could be a match. It’s obvious that despite the Mets interes...

Mets Card of the Week: 1974 Felix Millan

1974 TOPPS DECKLE EDGE FELIX MILLAN What the heck is a deckle? Well, a “deckle” is a frame used when making paper by hand; by extension, a “deckle edge” is the rough, untrimmed edge that results from this process. Head to your local antiquarian book seller for a quick reference… Topps was not seeking to educate the youth of America in the finer details of 18th century...

Do Two Wrongs Make A Wright?

It was three weeks ago when we elected a president. After a long, nasty, ugly, expensive and bitter campaign we survived and made it to Election Day. And boom! Just like that more than 57 million Americans, those who voted for Mitt Romney, were pissed off. No matter who would be sworn in in January, literally half this nation would be upset. It was really a no-win situation. The...

A look at the Mets-Braves rivalry

The Mets used to own the Braves. From 1975 to 1980, New York was 44-28 (.611) against Atlanta. And from 1984 to 1990, the Mets were even better, going 57-27 (.679) against the team they beat in the very first NLCS. But brother, things ain’t what they used to be. They say a generation is about 20 years, which means we have an entire generation of people who have known only the Braves...

Wil the Royals trade Myers away for starting pitching?

The Royals need another front of the rotation starter, even after acquiring Ervin Santana and Jeremy Guthrie. With a $70MM “soft” salary cap (which many argue is too low), the Royals say they’re willing to trade top outfield prospect Wil Myers for starting pitching.
