My last David Wright post
A lot has been written about David Wright and the New York Mets this year. I, for one, have written various versions of the same thing I’m going to write the same thing here, and I’m going to keep on writing it until it either comes true or events develop that result in a different ending. In my world, this is what’s going to happen.

Trades From The Past: Rusty Staub for Mickey Lolich?
In 1975, Rusty Staub had his best season ever for the Mets, batting .282/.371/.448 with 30 doubles, 19 home runs and 105 RBI. Then, in the offseason, for reasons few fans could understand, the Mets traded Staub to Detroit for veteran lefthanded pitcher Mickey Lolich. Actually, the trade was Staub and AAA pitcher Bill Laxton for Lolich and AAA outfielder Billy Baldwin.
I remember...

BJ Upton to Mets? Nice Thought But Not Likely
With no playoffs in sight for the Mets, it’s not too early to start thinking about how the Mets could improve their team this offseason. The Mets will sure be in the market for any bargain player they can get, but one guy that has been mentioned for the Mets has been Rays centerfielder BJ Upton.
Of course, a guy with Upton’s athleticism and potential would make him desirable...

Mets have blueprint for success in 2012 Orioles
No one had this recipe in their cookbook. The Baltimore Orioles haven’t made the playoffs, the past 14 seasons, has never operated as a ‘big market team’ payroll wise, and has been consistently been ranked in the lower ranks of organizational talent.
No, this was not the recipe for success.
We’re not going to offer up any magic spells here. No, we’re just going to break...
Jones gets farewell from Mets fans, Braves win
NEW YORK (AP) -- Mets fans cheered the loudest for Chipper Jones once he was out of their ballpark for good.
When he took the lineup card to home plate before his last game in Queens, Jones got some scattered applause. When he pinch hit in the ninth, he received cheers in full voice -- along with some boos, of course.
Jones walked, and once a pinch runner came in to replace him...
Braves 3, Mets 2 (10)
NEW YORK -- The Mets survived Chipper Jones' final at-bat in Flushing, when he seemed poised to deliver one more torturous blow. But all that did was send Jones out of Citi Field hitless in his final series there, before the Braves managed to push across a run without him in the 10th inning Sunday. Brian McCann, who picked up Jones' mantle as a Mets-killer the past two...

Game Preview: Nationals @ Mets
After a disappointing series with the Braves, the Mets host the Nationals in Queens. Collin McHugh will get the start tonight for the Mets. He is 0-1 over two starts with a 3.27 ERA as he has allowed 4 ER in 11.0 innings of work. His MLB debut was seven innings of shutout ball, and sadly his last start was not that as he allowed 4 ER in 4 innings. The Nationals have no current numbers...
HYPE files: Luis Mateo
Where’s the hype?
Luis Mateo, SP: Luis Mateo was a starting pitcher that was pegged to be a sleeper by many coming into this season. It is no wonder either because there’s a lot to like about Mateo — his frame (6’3”, 185 pounds), relatively young age (22 years old), and his stuff. Mateo sits at 95 MPH regularly (tops out at 97) and has a sharp slider. In the DSL last...
