Mets News and Notes: Attention Mets Fans: The Mets have bought out Jason Bay, who had been owed $19 million. Terms of the settlement were not immediately available. The Mets have signed right-handed reliever Greg Burke to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training. Burke, 30, split last season between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk in the Orioles organization. He went a combined 3-1 with a 1.53 ERA and 17 saves in 44 appearances. Burke's lone major league experience came in 2009 with the Padres. He had a 4.14 ERA in 48 relief appearances. He originally is a product of Gloucester (N.J.) Catholic. After being outrighted off the 40-man roster, Mike Nickeas has elected free agency, a team official said. Fred Lewis, who also had been removed from the roster, chose free agency as well.
