He fashioned a 3.26 catchers ERA, the fifth-best among major league catchers with 50 or more starts. The 6-1, 220-pounder batted .269 (7-26) with two doubles, one home run and three RBI in 16 games this spring with the Mets.

Thole's Progress Tough to Gage

Doctors are having a difficult time determining the progress of Josh Thole. Thole was placed on MLB's new 7 Day Disabled List specifically for players who have suffered a concussion or are having concussion syndrome symptoms. Dr. Hurtcher Knoggin explains why treating Josh has been so difficult, "There really is no way to differentiate between a symptom and Mr. Thole'...

Thole leaves game possible concussion

Photo by Michael BaronAfter a nasty collision at the plate with former Met Ty Wiggington, Josh Thole left tonight's game with what appeared to be a head injury.  The good news was that Thole left on his own, the bad news is that if he has a concussion there's no telling how long it could take to return. The Mets best option is Rob Johnson if they need a catcher, when Nickeas...

Injuries keep taking their Thole on Mets

Injuries continue to pile up for the New York Mets, who placed catcher Josh Thole on the seven-day disabled list Tuesday with a concussion. Jordany Valdespin Rings The Bell, Josh Thole Gets His Bell Rung: A Fun Night In Philly

“Baseball is a game of redeeming features.” – Bob Murphy This was shaping up to be a horrible night. Jonathon Niese gave up a couple of runs early. Normally, this isn’t cause for alarm, dread, or despair, except for two reasons: first of all, it’s Niese’s third start out of the past four where that’s happened and number two, the Mets were facing Roy Halladay...

MMO Farm Report: St. Lucie Improves To 25-6, RHP Jason DeGrom Dazzles In Debut

I love those Mets farm hands... Buffalo 4, Gwinnett 3 In danger of losing their third straight game, the comeback kids did what they do best. Rob Johnson’s two-run single with two outs in the top of the eighth inning gave the Bisons a 4-3 victory Monday night in the opening game of a four-game series against Gwinnett at Coolray Field. The win was Buffalo’s 12th comeback triumph...

Pass the Salt!! Mets 5, Phillies 2

In what could be called a rather dumb move, I boldly told Twitter that if Mike Nickeas saved/won this game I would “eat his glove…with salt”.  Welp…pass the salt, folks.  While Nickeas may not have driven in the winning runs (I’ll get to that in a bit), he was a vital part of the Mets’ 8th inning rally that broke the tie-that-wouldn’t-die. It wouldn’t come without...

Mets' record is healthy despite injury bug

The Mets are playing these days without their starting shortstop, Ruben Tejada, who is sidelined because of a strained right groin. They also are playing without their starting catcher, Josh Thole, who has a concussion. They are playing without their starting left fielder, Jason Bay, who is recovering from a fractured left rib. And they are playing without one of their starting...
