The Mets announced that they have optioned LHP Robert Carson to Double-A Binghamton and purchased the contract of RHP Jack Egbert from Triple-A Buffalo to replace him on the roster.
Egbert has been having a fine season at Buffalo where is 2-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 17 appearances spanning 26 innings. He has allowed 22 hits and 5 walks while striking out 17 batters.
The Mets also announced that reliever D.J. Carrasco has been released from the team. In two seasons with the Mets, Carrasco went 1-3 with a 6.11 ERA in 53 innings pitched.
