I think a big problem among the Mets fan base right now is a lack of understanding as to how pedestrian our current offense is. I mean, if Omar can sign Lowe and Redding or something to that effect, fantastic...but take a look at the offense. Do you REALLY have that much confidence that Fernando Tatis can repeat his, frankly, miraculous performance from last year? Is anyone that confident that Dan Murphy will put up stellar numbers through 350+ Ab's this year? Who would be happy with Luis Castillo as an everyday player at this point in his career? Who expects anything outside of mediocrity at the plate from Brian Schneider next year? Which Carlos Delgado will show up? These are all players that will log significant at-bats, and if any (or, God forbid, all of them) show regression, we'll be seeing more and more of the Robinson Cancels, Marlon Andersons, and Damion Easleys of the world, find starting time on a consistent basis.
