The Mets continue to replenish Buffalo with the signing of 1B/OF Jason Botts. The Mets currently have three positional players in the starting line-up and two bench players who began the year with Buffalo ( Pridie, Tejada, Turner, Evans and F-Mart). As a result they reassigned Hu, traded for Bubba Bell, and signed Luis Figueroa. Botts is the fourth addition to the organization at the minor league level, while helping to keep Buffalo competitive he will also provide depth for the major league club. In 2007 he was ranked the 9th prospect in the Rangers system by John Sickels. While he crushes minor league pitching he hasn't had the same success in the majors. In five seasons in AAA Botts produced the following numbers; .295 BA / .388 OBP / .520 Slg. and .909 OPS but that didn't convert in the majors.
