Mets fans are just hoping this season ends as soon as possible. It’s been another lost year in New York, but maybe, just maybe, the team will be able to get at least one win in their series against Milwaukee this weekend.
New York has lost six in a row, putting their record at a miserable 65-78 for the season. They were just swept consecutively by the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals.
This series with Milwaukee begins on Friday, with Jonathan Niese on the mound for the Mets up against Mike Fiers.
You’ve got to feel a little sorry for Niese, who’s pitching far better than his 10-9 record would indicate. He’s only given up five earned runs over his last three starts, yet has picked up the losing decision in each. Thanks a lot offense!
Still, Niese has been solid as a rock for this rotation. He’s got a 3.47 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the season and has been even better (5-4 with a 3.20 ERA) on the road than he has at home. Nonetheless, the Mets are still the underdogs in the MLB odds ...
