The Miami Marlins can't seem to catch a break lately.Charlie Lowell, a minor league pitcher in the Marlins organization, was arrested this weekend in Riviera Beach, Fla. after allegedly beating his girlfriend of nearly three years.Police say the 22-year-old southpaw choked and slapped his girlfriend Saturday morning immediately after he found out she cheated on him.The women told police that Lowell became visibly upset when he went through her cell phone and found text messages from an unknown man. Lowell than proceeded to shove her up against a bedroom wall, grab her by the throat, and call her derogatory names such as "slut" and "ho."The woman told investigators Lowell later pushed her onto a bed, threw clothing on top of her and pulled her down a flight of stairs by her arm, the report reads. After locking her out of the home, the woman told police Lowell came outside and slapped her on the right side of her face with an open hand. While being questioned by officers, Lowell admitted to slapping his girlfriend and pulling her down his stairs, the arrest report states. However, Lowell said he did not hit her anywhere else and there was no other physical violence.Lowell was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 11:05 a.m. and charged with domestic battery by strangulation. The Missouri native was drafted in the sixth round by the Marlins in the 2011 draft out of Wichita State University. He spent most of his time last season playing for Single-A Greensboro where he appeared in 23 games and posted a 5-5 record.Via WPTV
