Like most New York sports fans, I spent the majority of my Sunday afternoon discussing the seven-player trade that will send R.A. Dickey to the Toronto Blue Jays, as well as conversations about Big Blue’s no-show in Atlanta forcing a three-way tie atop the NFC East. In fact, I spent about 15 minutes with our friends over at ‘The Happy Recap Radio Show’ discussing both topics, which you can listen to here.   But, one text message from my MetsZilla mate Jay Robotham nearly knocked me off my recliner. “Wow, Pelf got $4 million.” Obviously, I thought this was a joke. Apparently it is not.  Mike Pelfrey, who was non-tendered by the Mets in early November, has agreed to a one-year $4 million base salary with up to $1.5 million in incentives with the Minnesota Twins, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sportsline.com: #bbpBox_280461423442788353 a { text-decoration:none; color:#009999; }#bbpBox_280461423442788353 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } #twins agree to terms with mike pelfrey. Coming off TJ surgery but already throwing well. #twins about 17 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®ReplyRetweetFavorite @JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman The contracts that are being handed out this off-season — especially to starting pitchers — are mind boggling. Why the Twins would guarantee $4 million to a guy coming off May Tommy John Surgery is beyond me.  Hopefully, the former first round selection can find success with a change of scenery. “I’m on track for Jan. 15. So everything is going well,” Pelfrey said, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York. “Tim Hudson came back in seven months (from Tommy John surgery). Joba Chamberlain last year came back in eight before he broke his ankle. And I’ll be about eight and a half or so. I’ll definitely be ready when spring training rolls around.” During his seven year tenure with the Mets, Pelfrey was 50-54 with a 4.36 ERA:
