Brandon Morrow left his previous start when he took a ball off his right shin, but any questions about his effectiveness were answered quickly Wednesday.

The Toronto Blue Jays right-hander was in command from the beginning against the Chicago White Sox, and he pitched a two-hit shutout in a 4-0 win.

He leads the major leagues with three shutouts this season, a pair of three-hitters and now a two-hitter.

A.J. Pierzynski had both singles for the White Sox, who were the hottest team in baseball entering the series and now are trying to salvage a win in the finale of the three-game set Thursday.

Morrow is 7-3 with a 2.90 ERA.

"It was all fastball-slider," Morrow said. "I threw a few changeups to the left-handers to keep them honest, but when I have fastball command down to both sides of the plate, that's when I've been at my best, and I had that tonight."

There was some concern about Morrow in his previous start, a 4-1 win over Baltimore on May 30, when he had to leave the game in the seventh when struck on the shin by a shot hit by Wilson Betemit. He couldn't put weight on his right leg as he was being helped off, but it turned out to be a bruise. With a couple of days off in the schedule to help his recovery, Morrow was better than fine for his start against the White Sox.

"It felt fine for a few days," Morrow said. "It's just sore to the touch. It doesn't hurt to move. There was no hesitation."

He said he did not think about the possibility of being hit again.

"There's that chance every time you take the mound," he said. "That's not something you think of. If it happens, it happens. I've been hit a few times."
