Found September 03, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
After being questioned for his hustle and telling reporters he simply didn't care what the media thought of him, Bryce Harper may have more going on than meets the eye.  As our own Raymond Bureau pointed out, Harper may be battling some lingering injuries.  While it may not be his knee, Harper is in fact experiencing some hip pain. Bill Ladson of MLB.com says Harper is battling hip soreness.  The 20-year old outfielder has apparently been getting treatment on his hip without his skipper's knowledge.  Yesterday, manager Davey Johnson indicated that he had just found out about the treatment, and he was not happy that Harper had not told him. "I was really disturbed I wasn't informed that he was having some treatment on his hip," Johnson said. "But every time someone talks to Harp, he said, 'I'm fine.'" Harper is still having an impressive season, but considering his start this year, many consider this season a disappointment.  He is hitting .278/.381/.514 with 19 home runs.  Each category aside from home runs is an improvement over his rookie season.  However, had Harper not missed time after slamming into the outfield wall in Los Angeles earlier in his year, there's no doubt his numbers would be even better. The Nationals are fighting for their playoff lives right now.  They have won six of their last 10, but they remain 15 games behind the Atlanta Braves and 7.5 games out of the second Wild Card slot.  If they are going to make a run, they will have to string together a long winning streak.  But they'll probably need Harper healthy to do so. Bryce Harper and Ian Desmond on long bus rides in the minors

Bryce Harper and Ian Desmond engaged in a fairly amusing Twitter exchange on Monday on the bus ride from DC to Philly before the start of the Nats-Phillies series. It all started when Harper complained about the ride: This bus is killing the game right now! Bored,Hungry, and tired! Not a good 3 to mix together! At least I got pandora! #GoFaster — Bryce Harper (@Bharper3407...

Bryce Harper Says ‘Screw What People Think’

Bryce Harper is just 20-years-old and he’s showing his emotions on his sleeve…a lot. Harper has had a roller coaster type of season, starting off strong  then being hit by injuries, playing through only to be sidelined and up and down since then. All this of course also coincides with the fact the Nationals are arguably the biggest disappointment of the season. Harper is...

Bryce Harper on criticism by media: ‘Screw what people think’

Given how long he has been part of the national baseball discussion and his success on the field, it’s hard to believe that Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper is still only 20 years old. And then just when it is forgotten, a display of somewhat brash immaturity befitting a young man his age rears its […]The post Bryce Harper on criticism by media: ‘Screw what people...

Harper: ‘If I was hurting, I’d come out of the game’

Anybody watching Bryce Harper during Monday night’s 3-2 loss to the Phillies could tell the Nationals outfielder was less than 100 percent healthy. Harper took awkward swings he labored to get down the first-base line and he gingerly took his position in the field between innings. In the middle of the third inning shortly after Harper limped down the line on a groundout to second...

Will the Washington Nationals trade a reliever?

At has long been rumored that the Washington Nationals may trade one of their backend relievers at the end of the year. As things have not worked as expected in the later innings, the Nationals are almost left with no choice but to move one of Drew Storen, Tyler Clippard, or Rafael Soriano. The National’s top reliever has undoubtably been Tyler Clippard making him someone the franchise...

Harper will get an extra day's rest because the Nationals also are off Thursday before opening a series against Miami. Harper is batting .275 with 19 home runs and 49 RBIs in 100 games. Manager Davey Johnson is taking extra precautions with his young...

Davey: "It's a stab in the heart."

(Up above: Scott Hairston with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th.) "It's tough. It's a stab in the heart. We've got to win these games. We had opportunities. We didn't capitalize on them. We had the right guys up there. We could've broken the game open when Hairston was hitting (with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth). We're just not...

Nationals lose 3-2 to Phillies

Stephen Strasburg was having trouble holding onto the ball, and the Nationals' playoff chances slipped further out of reach. Strasburg pitched six solid innings, but had to leave partly because of perspiration on a humid evening and the Philadelphia Phillies pushed across two runs in the eighth to beat Washington 3-2 on Monday. Strasburg fanned 10 while giving up an unearned...

Ramos, Gonzalez lead Nats past Phils, 9-6

Wilson Ramos hit a three-run homer and Corey Brown also went deep to back Gio Gonzalez, helping the Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-6 Tuesday night. The Nationals remained 7 1/2 games behind Cincinnati for the second wild-card spot after overcoming a sloppy all-around effort...

Wilson Ramos' throw to second goes off of Chase Utley's bat

Well, you don't see this every day. In the fourth inning of Monday's Phillies-Nationals game, Chase Utley swung and missed at a pitch from Stephen Strasburg. Wilson Ramos hopped up to fire a pickoff throw down to first, and the ball somehow, some way, hit Utley's bat, which was in mid-air during the follow through of his swing. On the play, Jimmy Rollins took second...

Nationals hold off Phillies, 9-6, in mistake-filled contest

If the Washington Nationals are indeed serious about keeping their slim playoff hopes alive they need to seize upon the blunders of their opponents. The notion may seem like a simple one but the Nationals had failed to do so in losing three of their previous four games to struggling division foes. On Tuesday night they finally seemed to grasp the concept but not without making plenty...

Roy Halladay, Phillies Take On Jordan Zimmermann, Washington Nationals
