The Atlanta Braves have named Randy Ready, their new Triple-A Manager. Ready replaces Dave Brundage, and becomes the second manager, since the Braves Triple-A affiliate was located to Gwinnett in ’09.
Ready served as the Texas Rangers’ minor league hitting instructor in 2012, and prior to that was the San Diego Padres’ minor league hitting instructor, from July 2009 through 2011.
Ready also managed in the Padres’ minor league system, amassing a 489-466 record. During that time he earned the Pacific Coast League’s “Best Manager Prospect” by Baseball America in 2008.
Ready played in 777 major league games with Milwaukee (’83-’86), San Diego (’86-’89), Philadelphia (’89-’91 and ’94-’95) Oakland (’92) and Montreal (’93) He had a career .259 average with 40 home runs and 239 RBI.

The Atlanta Braves, looking to add an outfield bat, have interest in signing free-agent outfielder Cody Ross, according to a major-league source.
With Torii Hunter likely choosing between the Rangers and Tigers, the Braves are pursuing another of the top right-handed bats on the market. Ross posted an .807 OPS with 22 home runs in 130 games with the Boston Red Sox this year.
At the end of May, the Braves were trying to get back on track. At 28-24 and on a two-game winning streak, things looked fine in an immediate sense.
