Bleacher Report:
The 2009 Mets Disabled List: An All-Star Team
Jose Reyes: DL since May with a leg injury
Carlos Delgado: DL since May with hip surgery
Carlos Beltran: DL Since June with a knee bruise
The Mets have been without their, three best hitters for nearly the entire season, and that is just the beginning. Jose Reyes is one of the best lead off hitters in the game, with Delgado being one of the most powerful, and Beltran the most all-around talented. All three of these players would be stars on any other team.
J.J. Putz: DL since early June with elbow problems
John Maine: DL since early June with shoulder problems
Oliver Perez: DL from May-July with knee injury.
J.J. Putz was acquired from the Mariners to try and solidify a disgraceful bullpen from a year ago, until he found himself injured as well, and unable to perform because of it. J.J. would be the #1 closer or setup man on almost every team in the MLB, so this was a huge hit.
The Mets also lost starting pitch...
