Evans, who will be 26 in January, is hitting .265 with two home runs and nine RBI in 49 at bats for the Mets this season. He is in his third stint with the Mets this season, and in 64 games with Triple-A Buffalo this year, he hit .313 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 249 at bats. Michael Baron: Finally, Evans is getting a chance to play and he has seized the opportunity. It’s not to say he is a long term solution anywhere, but it’s nice to see someone (who has been jockeyed back and forth from Triple-A for such a long time) finally get a chance to perform and actually succeed; even if it might be short-lived. Evans will probably continue to get his chances at first base down the stretch, considering Lucas Duda will be used more and more in right field. So, at the very least, he has the opportunity to showcase what he can do for other clubs and maybe find a landing spot in the short term.
