Brian Roberts had three hits and a home run, and Nolan Reimold and Wilson Betemit hit consecutive home runs Friday to lead the Baltimore Orioles over a Pittsburgh Pirates' split squad 6-5. Gaby Sanchez homered twice for the Pirates. Limited by concussions, back surgery and hip surgery to 115 games during the past three seasons, Roberts hasn't hit a regular-season home run since 2011. He connected in the first against James McDonald. Reimold, who missed most of last year due to neck surgery, hit a two-run home run in the second ahead of Betemit's homer. Reimold left the game after the homer. McDonald, the loser, allowed four runs and six hits in three innings. Making his spring training debut, winner Jason Hammel allowed one hit in two scoreless innings.

The leap is way too large to consider that the Baltimore Orioles went 33-18 once Manny Machado made the leap to the Major Leagues at the age of twenty last season. One player doesn't a .647 winning percentage down that stretch make. But it makes for a nice theory. After all, the third base position went from the worst fielding position in the majors to a savings of four and...

What are the Expectations for the 2013 Baltimore Orioles?

The O’s look to build on the success of their 2012 season As a life long Baltimore Orioles fan, the 2012 season can only be described as magical. They eventually...

You may say I'm a dreamer: 2013 Baltimore Orioles

This is my nightmare: Baltimore Orioles

In the This Is My Nightmare series, we'll take a look at what the absolute worst case scenario for each team would be in 2013.
