The San Diego Padres look like they are adding another veteran piece to the puzzle by signing 39 year old catcher Gregg Zaun. Zaun will compete for a bench role with the Padres behind starting catcher Nick Hundley.
Zaun will be competing with newly acquired catchers Rob Johnson and Guillermo Quiroz for a spot on the team. Zaun would bring veteran leadership to the team and also a switch hitting bat.
Zaun is recovering from shoulder surgery on his throwing arm, we will have to see how his arm is recovering.
