The San Diego Padres have designated infielder Oscar Salazar for assignment according to the team's official Twitter account.

This movement will open a spot on the 40-man roster for the recently acquired Samuel Deduno, who was claimed off waivers from the Rockies.

Salazar hit .237 with 3 HR's and 19 RBI's in 85 games and 131 AB's with the Padres in 2010.
