The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Brad Hawpe on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with left elbow inflammation.Hawpe played just once in the previous eight days while dealing with elbow soreness, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins.The 31-year-old is scuffling in his first season in San Diego, hitting .231 with four homers and 19 RBIs in 195 at-bats.The Padres recalled catcher Kyle Phillips from Triple-A Tucson to take Hawpe's spot on the roster. Phillips batted .239 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 46 at-bats with the Padres earlier in the year.
