San Diego Padres right-handed closer Huston Street said he's not one to think much about good or bad outings. "In my opinion, it is a waste of time to focus on the past for more than a few minutes," said Street. "Focus on what you can do moving forward." That might be an excellent philosophy given what happened in the ninth inning Sunday at Petco Park. Street allowed his first home runs of 2012 and suffered his first blown save and loss of the season as the Giants scored three times against him in the ninth for a 7-5 win. Street gave up ninth-inning homers to Xavier Nady and Hunter Pence, handing Street his first loss and first blown save in 24 chances over 40 appearances. Street's ERA jumped from 1.18 to 1.85 -- although is ERA has taken a hit in each of his three outings since he returned from missing six weeks with a left calf strain. Before he went on the disabled list Aug. 11, Street had a 0.75 ERA. Since his return, he has allowed five r...

Daily Friar 10.1.12

And that concludes Padres home games for 2012. It would have been nice to end the homestand on a high note, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Huston Street has not looked the same since coming back from the calf injury, and that was extremely apparent yesterday. He hadn't given up a home run all season until yesterday when he gave up two. This ultimately doomed the...

Padres Drop Final Home Game And Series With Blown Save Against Rival Giants.

The Padres lost their last home game of the year on Sunday, also losing their fourth consecutive series as their season comes to a close. Huston Streets first blown save of the season ended with their sixth loss in the last 10 games. The Giants beat the Padres 3-1 on Friday before the Padres answered back with a convincing 7-3 win on Saturday. But Huston Street surrendered both a...

Video: Cameron Maybin leaps high over the wall to rob homer

Saturday brought us yet another candidate for catch of the year as San Diego Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin hauled in a beauty. The play occurred in the very first inning of the Padres home game against the San Francisco Giants. With two outs, Giants outfielder Xavier Nady crushes a drive high and deep toward the center-field wall. That's when Maybin rises up and robs Nady...

Daily Friar 9.30.12

Maybe there is life in the Padres offense after all. After a week of scoring no more than 4 runs in a game, the Padres put up 7 last night on the heels of their best run producer. Chase Headley hit his 30th home run of the year and pushed his RBI total up to 112, which ties him with Ryan Braun for the NL lead. Those two have gone back and forth all month and will most likely come...

Padres 7, Giants 3

Chase Headley hit his 30th home run and had three RBIs to tie Ryan Braun for the NL lead with 112 and the San Diego Padres beat Buster Posey and the NL West champion San Francisco Giants 7-3 on Saturday night. Posey, who started at catcher a night after being hit in the throat with a wild pitch, went 2 for 2 with a to raise his average to .337 and increase his lead in the NL batting...

Giants 7, Padres 5

Pinch hitter Xavier Nady homered off Huston Street to tie the game with one out in the ninth and Hunter Spence hit a go-ahead, two-run shot as the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the San Diego Padres 7-5 Sunday. The stunning rally got Tim Lincecum off the hook for the loss, but the righty still had his second straight shaky start for the NL West champion Giants. Lincecum allowed...
