Omar Minaya and his entourage, have met with Pedro Martinez in the Dominican Republic.
It's been the big topic of discussion around the Mets blogosphere. I've read mostly all of the pros and cons, and wanted to throw my two cents in.
I love Pedro, but really... It's time to move on.
Even if we were to fail to sign Oliver Perez or Ben Sheets, I would rather go with what we have rather than bank our hopes for another season on Pedro.
Here are just a few reasons why I'm not on the Pedro bandwagon.
1. His ERA last season of 5.61, was a full two points higher than the worst season in his career.
2. The last time his won-loss record was below .500, was 17 years ago in his rookie year.
3. If we signed him, no matter how bad he was in the spring, he'd get a starting spot because they wouldn't want to disrespect him.
4. He lasted the fewest innings pitched per start since he became a starting pitcher. He averaged 5 1/3 innings per start which would mean 3 2/3 innings...
