Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
Martinez (4-3, 4.97) went seven innings plus a batter and struck out six, but he hit some rough spots. He gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk and found himself in trouble in the sixth inning. That was when he allowed the Mets' two-run lead to slip away.
Pedro said, "I got myself in trouble trying not to let Chipper beat me in that situation and then hung a changeup (to McCann), that was pretty much it," Martinez said. "I am starting feel more comfortable and you can see more consistency. I am coming around, some teams give me more difficulty than others, but I seem to be doing what I want to be doing."
Part of a rotation that has been the holding this team together, Martinez has returned to form at the right time. He has worked his way back from a strained left hamstring he suffered in his first start of the season and also get back to focusing on baseball after death of his father last month.
He went at least seven innings for the second straight start and went out to start the eighth to face the righthanded Escobar to take some pressure off a shaky Mets bullpen.
"I feel good even though I coughed up the lead, because we got the win, and that is the real matter," Martinez said. "I am glad I kept my team in the game. That is my main responsibility and it turned out well."

I thought Pedro's performance was good, he tried to get eight innings in to help the bullpen but fell short. Many have wrote Pedro off, but I think he will be big down the stretch...With Maine slowing down, Pedro is going to have to turn it up and it's about time!
