The Philadelphia Phillies will be bringing back outfielder Scott Podsednik on a minor-league contract. Podsednik spent 2011 with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, hitting .245 in 59 plate appearances. He also missed the majority of the season with an injury. Podsednik is a 10-year major league veteran with a .279 career batting average to go with 301 stolen bases. He led the NL with 70 steals back in 2004 for the Milwaukee Brewers. Podsednik, 35, plays all three outfield positions, although he is best suited in left field. His contract next year includes an invitation to spring training with the big league club.

The Phillies announced via a press release that they have released Scott Mathieson to allow him to pursue an opportunity with a professional team in Asia. Multiple sources have indicated that the Philadelphia Phillies tried to lure left-handed relief pitcher Billy Wagner out of retirement before inking Jonathan Papelbon to a four-year, $50 million contract. Wagner enjoyed a phenomenal season with the Atlanta Braves in 2010, posting a career-best 1.43 ERA with 37 saves in 69 innings pitched before calling it quits after 16 years in...

The Phillies are interested in re-acquiring Travis D’Arnaud

Good luck. D’Arnaud is arguably the best prospect we’ve traded in the last 3 seasons. He appears to have star potential behind the plate if he can remain healthy....
