Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco has been diagnosed with a sports hernia.The veteran infielder is expected to receive an injection Tuesday and will be reevaluated later in the week. The Phillies are hopeful they will not have to place him on the disabled list.Surgery remains an option for the 35-year-old, but it is likely he would be able to return at some point during the regular season.Polanco is hitting .275 with four homers and 40 RBIs in 345 at-bats on the season.
