Chad Qualls has, um, struggled this season. But after allowing Wednesday night's game to get out of reach, Phillies fans took to Twitter and his handle @Qualls50 to give him a piece of their minds directly.
There were a couple fans that were nice to him. Most, however, were nasty: (Click to enlarge if you need to)
There were many more, some too nasty for our family-friendly website. But at least one guy was nice:
Oh wait, that wasn't nice.
BEST OF MAXIM
Kendrick buried them early (AP)
The Phillies keep finding new ways to piss the fans off. In Thursday’s 5-4, finale loss to the Pirates, Kyle Kendrick did them in before their first at bat.
KENDRICK KILLS THEM EARLY
-Sometimes, in baseball, it comes down to one inning. The Phillies were unable to overcome Kyle Kendrick’s awful start. He put them in a 5-0 hole they could not recover...
Chase Utley with shades of Joe Dimaggio in 1949, homering in his first at-bat of the season following an injury. (AP)
Not even the return of Chase Utley could save the Phillies tonight, as the team fell to the Pirates 11-7 behind a hapless effort from the bullpen–a unit which has been the Achilles heel all season.
CHASE RETURNS IN STYLE
-Two out, nobody on, 2-2 count...
Enough can not be said about Carlos Ruiz’s performance so far this year. It has been nothing short of amazing that a 33 year old catcher has stepped up the way that he has. After another 3-4 night at the plate, Ruiz is batting .361. That is not only tops for catchers or in the National League, but is the best in all of baseball. Chew on that for a minute.
With Ruiz’s bomb of...
What a lift the Philadelphia Phillies got today with the return of Chase Utley. You could feel the excitement in the stadium before the game, when Utley took the field, when he was announced for his first at bat, then when he hit a monster home run to right field.
The excitement was in the air. The Phillies were back! Ryan Howard will be back inside of 20 days! The top of the National...
Cliff Lee of the Philadelphia Phillies is among the best pitchers in the majors. What west coast hurlers are in that group? The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my daily coverage.
TAL’S HANDY STATS
I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number after the title will...
When superstars go on a rehab assignment, they usually get everything they want, including which jersey number they get to wear. It seems like that doesn't happen in Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs mascot FeRROUS wears Chase Utley's No. 26, so Utley now has to wear No. 21 for the first time in his career when he begins his rehab assignment with the Triple-A Iron...
A Philadelphia Phillies fan attended Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates wearing full catcher's gear, in honor of Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz.
Well, at least the mask will keep people from recognizing him.

Ty Wigginton and Carlos Ruiz homered to back Vance Worley and the Philadelphia Phillies held on for a 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
Worley (4-4) allowed three runs and six hits in six-plus innings. Michael Schwimer pitched out of a jam in the seventh, Antonio Bastardo worked the eighth and Jonathan Papelbon finished for his 18th save in 19 tries. Papelbon...
In a statement released in conjunction with the Eastern League, the Double-A Reading Phillies announced that six of the club’s players have been named mid-season All-Stars.
Among the Eastern division’s representatives will be righty pitchers Justin Friend and Julio Rodriguez, along with shortstop Troy Hanzawa, second baseman Cesar Hernandez, catcher Sebastian Valle and first...
After a dreadful Sunday during which the Phillies lost two games to the Rays in spectacularly bad fashion, this team needed a break. And that break came in the form of the Pittsburgh Pirates. How do you spell relief? P-I-R-A-T-E-S!
The 8-3 win was a welcome sight, even if it did come at the expense of what appeared to be a little league team. Thankfully though, the Bucos took the...
The Phillies were unable to win this series last night as they fell to the Pirates, 11-7. Although they won the first two games of the series, they are still looking for a series win. In this afternoon's matinée, Kyle Kendrick (2-7, 5.24 ERA) and A.J. Burnett (8-2, 3.24 ERA) will go head to head. Burnett will look to continue his dominance on the mound for a series split while...
Vance Worley took the hill tonight for the Phillies against lefty Eric Bedard of the Pirates. With the team playing more aggressive than ever this season, the remainder of this series is sure to be entertaining.
The Phillies jumped ahead early tonight with an RBI single from the hot-hitting Carlos Ruiz. He plated Hunter Pence who had tripled to get on base. Chooch is now hitting...

It may not have been his biggest test, but it was a test nonetheless, and one Ryan Howard passed.
Ryan Howard went 2 for 4 last night with the Lakewood Blue Claws and drove in three runs. Howard had a pair of singles, grounded out, struck out and hit a sacrifice fly in his 5 plate appearances.
After the game, Howard said it felt good to get into...
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will have two player representatives in the Triple-A All-Star game, when righty hurler Tyler Cloyd and infielder Kevin Frandsen head to Coca Cola Field in Buffalo, NY on Wednesday July 11th.
The annual exhibition pits the best talents of the International League against the top players from the Pacific Coast League.
Cloyd, who was an 18th round draft...

After a very disappointing series opener, the Pirates will look to rebound tonight against the hated Phillies. Other than in the Baltimore series, the Bucs have bounced back from defeats very well lately and have stayed away from the big losing streak. That’s...
