Found July 30, 2012 on Phillies Nation:
Right-handed relief pitching prospect Tyler Knigge is slowly adapting to the Double-A level after being promoted recently from Class A Advanced Clearwater. Following more than three months in the Florida State League, during which he became an All-Star while sporting a 4-1 record with nine saves and a 0.60 ERA, the 23-year-old Knigge has hit a rough stretch as a member of the Reading Phillies. In eight games since his promotion, the Lewis-Clark State College product has tallied a save and a 6.48 ERA. Knigge was the Phillies’ 12th round selection in the 2010 amateur draft. Last year, in his first full season as a pro, the 6-foot-3-inch 225-pounder posted a 4-3 record with four saves and a 3.32 ERA in 43 outings. Recently, I spoke with Tyler, just prior to his difficult period, about the differences in his approach this season, his time with the big league Phillies during spring training, playing in Reading and plenty more. Moments after the Phillies finalized a deal sending Shane Victorino to the Dodgers (see story), reports surfaced that the Phils and Giants were close to completing a deal for Hunter Pence. Philadelphia Phillies deal Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino

The Philadelphia Phillies have begun the retooling process. It could hardly be called a rebuilding process following the six year, 144 million dollar extension they gave to Cole Hamels. For the time being, the Phillies have more than 90 million committed to their top three pitchers and Ryan Howard. The extension began wide speculation that the Phillies would begin to...

Joe Blanton is Having One of the Weirdest Seasons Ever

Before this season, there had been 25 seasons with a qualified starting pitcher who has had a strikeout-to-walk ratio greater than 6.00, and every single one of them has had an ERA- of 86 or better. To the likely surprise of many, Joe Blanton currently leads the NL with a 6.39 K/BB, and since Colby Lewis is out for the season and no other qualified starter has a mark better than...

Phillies Rumors: Lee, Blanton, Pierre

Could Joe go south on I-95? (AP) -The latest on Cliff Lee comes from Buster Olney of ESPN.com, who says Lee is available and the Rangers are pretty much the only team that makes any sense. I’ve seen conflicting reports about Lee going anywhere, but Joel Sherman from the New York Daily News agrees that Lee to the Rangers is a possbility. I still think it’s a long shot that Lee...

Odds the Phillies Trade Cliff Lee to the Rangers? "Less than One Percent" or 25%. Pick oneC

T.R. Sullivan, who broke the story when the Phillies signed Cliff Lee prior to last season, believes there is a "less than one percent chance" that the Rangers and Phillies make a deal, though they have talked: The latest word on Cliff Lee is that the Phillies are willing to talk about him. Don’t look for him to be traded to Texas. An industry source said the chances...

Phillies throw up white flag for 2012, expected, but still surprising

Say goodbye to 2012. Atlanta did that with a sweep of the Phillies this past weekend, and what dagger the Braves did, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro twisted inside the belly of Phillies fans. OK, gone are Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino. Coming in are outfielder Nate Schierholtz and minor-league prospects Tommy Joseph, a catcher, and Seth Rosin, a righthanded pitcher (from the Giants for...

It seems like Joe Blanton will be moving back to the American League according to numerous reports. According to a source coming from MASN's Roch Kubatko says that the Phillies have faxed righthander Joe Blanton's health records to the Baltimore Orioles' orthopedist.  Blanton has been the talk of the town today, as have many of his teammates. It looks inevitable that...

Quick Note On Trading Hunter Pence

The CBS affiliate in San Francisco, KPIX's sports director Dennis O'Donnell, is reporting that the Phillies have a deal in place to send Hunter Pence to the San Francisco Giants. The deal is in place, pending the owner's approval (presumably because the Giants have to take on payroll outside of their budgeted amount). I'm fine with trading Pence, even though he...
