Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco will decide by Tuesday whether to undergo surgery for a sports hernia. The
veteran infielder suffered the injury late last week, and hasn't played since. There is some confusion over the timetable for recovery, leaving Polanco unsure about whether to go under the knife or to attempt to rehab the ailment. If he undergoes surgery, the 35-year-old would likely be able to return
at some point during the regular season.Polanco is hitting .275 with four homers and 40 RBIs in 345 at-bats on the season.
