Philadelphia Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.
continues to target a veteran corner outfielder, according to Todd Zolecki of
"We've had several talks with free agents, although
they're limited now," Amaro said Friday. "We've also talked about
some possible trades. We're staying active as far as that is concerned. We're
still trying to improve, depth-wise, in our outfield, if we can. We don't have
proven everyday Major League players on our corners right now. If we can create
some depth there, if we can create some competition, I would like to do

Darin Ruf could get the opportunity of a lifetime with the Philadelphia Phillies, which is one benefit in today’s baseball. Do you think he’ll make the cut, or be the right-handed solution behind Ryan Howard?

As the offseason winds down and the Phillies inch closer to Spring Training, the Phillies' outfield remains a pointed debate. Despite many reports that the Phillies are looking to adds veteran outfielder, Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. is singing a different tune today. Quoted in a Philly.com blog post...
Ah, 1989: the U.S. inaugurated a new president, Thomas and Friends begins to air on PBS, and the top played song was “Look Away” by Chicago. Around the world, Hirohito passed away, Poland had free elections, the Berlin Wall fell, and the world made Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” the top played song across the globe. It was a pretty big year around the world: holes were being...
As a youngster I grew up watching the Clay Dalrymple show before each Phillie game. My heroes back then were Johnny Callison, Wes Chamberlain, Tony Gonzales, Tony Taylor, Bill White, Johnny Briggs, Bobby Wine, Jim Bunning, Chris Short, and of course the man who would hit a shot off the wall in right field and only leg out a single, Clay Dalrymple. His show was brought to us by Tastycake...

When Nelson Prada was named manager of the Williamsport Crosscutters on Friday, I surmised that perhaps the Phillies brought Prada on board in hopes of enhancing the development of international players, perhaps specifically so the development of Prada’s native Venezuela. The Phillies enter...
An untimely injury in the last game of 2011 put a sudden halt to Ryan Howard‘s run as a borderline elite fantasy first baseman, but there’s still a little gas left in the tank for this former 40-homer, 140-RBI threat. In just 71 games and 292 plate appearances last year, Howard clubbed 14 homers and 56 RBI. Double those numbers and you have the kind of production Howard would...
The last big move for the Phillies this off-season is to get themselves a corner outfielder. With most of the big names and some small ones (Cody Ross) off the board, the Phillies have one option left, Alfonso Soriano. The $20 million outfielder who the Cubs have been shopping around would be a perfect fit for the Phillies. Last season Soriano belted 32 home runs and knocked in...
Look at this man's beard/hair combo. Seriously...behold!Hints- this former Phillie shares his last name in pronunciation only with two other former Phillies players (spelled differently). The Phils acquired him for the price of a trip on a "cruise".Go for the glory and name that Phillie...
To solidify the Philadelphia Phillies corner outfield positions, should Ruben Amaro go over the luxury tax (If the Phillies go over it will be at the lowest percentage)? Leave your thoughts and tune into My Two Cents live NOW on MTR Radio and we will discuss your answers.
Is Brown, Ruf, and Revere enough?
On Philly.com, Matt Gelb spoke with Ruben Amaro about the direction of the Phillies outfield heading into the 2013 season. Amaro was frank in saying they will likely go with what they currently have due to the monetary restraints in front of them.
“We’re likely going with what we’ve got,” Ruben Amaro Jr. said.
“There’s some risk in...
