Pro Sports Daily:
Outfielder Nate Schierholtz, who was acquired by the Phillies in a trading-deadline deal that sent Hunter Pence to the Giants, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right big toe. It's unclear whether Schierholtz's injury will require surgery, but if it does, his season may be over. Schierholtz sustained the injury in his only at-bat on Sunday. He was hitting .219 (7-for-32) with one home run and two RBIs in 11 games. The Phillies recalled infielder Hector Luna from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He appeared in 26 games with the Phillies this season, batting .246 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.

It’s called The Essential Games of The Philadelphia Phillies and we’re giving away a copy to one random Phillies Nation reader. Could it be...
Cole Hamels was stellar. He tossed his second straight complete game shutout, this time against yet another NL East opponent in the Marlins. He gave up six hits, one walk, and punched out five. Here’s his line: 9.0 IP/6 H/0 R/0 ER/1 BB/5 K. Here are some other story lines from tonight’s game:
MARLINS WOES OVER?
The Phillies lost their last five against the Marlins...
After snapping a lengthy skid to an NL East rival, the Philadelphia Phillies have a chance for their longest win streak in nearly three weeks.
The Phillies, though, might need a better performance from Kyle Kendrick if they want to earn their third straight win Tuesday night against a slumping Miami Marlins lineup.
Philadelphia (53-62) ended a five-game losing streak to Miami with...
Cole Hamels showed in his most recent outing why the Philadelphia Phillies decided to invest in him while dealing away others during a disappointing campaign.
His performances against the Miami Marlins this season haven't gone nearly as well.
The left-hander looks to help end Philadelphia's five-game losing streak to the Marlins in the opener of a three-game series Monday...
MIAMI (AP) -- Cole Hamels pitched his second consecutive shutout for the Philadelphia Phillies in a 4-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Monday night.
Hamels, coming off a five-hitter against Atlanta last Tuesday, scattered seven hits and struck out five in his sixth career shutout and 12th complete game. He walked one and threw 85 of 113 pitches for strikes.
It was the first time...
Final: Phillies 1, Marlins 0.
WP: Kyle Kendrick (5-9, 4.53 ERA) LP: Josh Johnson (7-9, 3.73 ERA) SV: Jonathan Papelbon (26)
Nothing really much happened in tonight's game except for stellar pitching, and a little power from Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins during the first few moments of tonight's action.
That's right, J-Roll provided the only offensive scoring for...
Juan Pierre’s hustle and back up catcher Eric Kratz’s game-tying home run brought a smile to my face in an 8-7 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, it is not the same as if the Phillies were four games back.
The Phillies are 52-62, again 10 games below .500, they are 18.5 games behind Washington and 12 behind the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates (a real feel-good story).
MIAMI -- Cole Hamels hasn't had much success against the Miami Marlins this year, but that changed on Monday night. Hamels pitched his second consecutive shutout, carrying the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-0 win over the Miami Marlins. "Obviously I haven't done too well against them recently, but it's just a matter of making pitches, hitting the target, and being...
Cole Hamels throws his second straight shutout against an NL Eastern Division opponent as the Phils beat the Marlins, 4-0.
The Phils took the lead in the third as, with runners on the corners, and with one man out, Chase Utley hits an RBI double, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had earlier singled, then stopped at third base on Juan Pierre’s single, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead,...
Giancarlo Stanton is quickly becoming the best fielding right fielder in the National League, with amazing diving stops and web gem worthy grabs.
He made another excellent grab on Monday night against the Phillies, hauling in what appeared to be a double off the bat of Erik Kratz.
The Phillies went on to win the game 4-0 on a second consecutive shutout by Cole Hamels. Hamels beat...
Cole Hamels‘ three-pitch strikeout of Justin Ruggiano during the first inning of Monday night’s Phillies-Marlins game (box) in Miami isn’t more significant than most other three-pitch strikeouts, except for that (a) it occurred on three consecutive changeups and (b) it occurred in front of the very excellent Miami center-field camera, itself particularly well-situated to capturing...
St. Louis Cardinals (62-52) at Philadelphia Phillies (51-62)
Lance Lynn (13-5, 3.52) vs. Vance Worley (6-7, 3.83)
Time: 1:35, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Sunny, 85
Media: Twitter and Facebook
Lance Lynn may not be a big-name pitcher, but he is having himself a solid year. He averages a strikeout per inning. Lynn has been a little inconsistent lately, however. He has...
MIAMI -- Cole Hamels pitched his second consecutive shutout Monday, carrying the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-0 win over the Miami Marlins. Juan Pierre had three hits, including an RBI triple, and the Phillies beat the Marlins for the first time in six games. Domonic Brown, John Mayberry Jr. and Kevin Frandsen added two hits apiece. Hamels, who was 0-3 with a 5.21 ERA in three...
MIAMI -- Kyle Kendrick threw seven scoreless innings for the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday in a 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins. Kendrick (5-9) struck out six and allowed five hits to improve to 9-2 against the Marlins in his career. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 26th save in 29 chances by pitching a scoreless ninth after Josh Lindblom pitched the eighth. Jimmy Rollins...
