Phillies starting pitcher Joe Blanton was placed on the 15-day DL will a medial impingement in his right (throwing) elbow.

Big Joe Blanton on the trading radar? After last nights performance against the Dodgers, 8 innings, 2 runs, 7 strikeouts and no walks, Blanton might be a perfect fit for the bus out-of-town. Blanton, who at 8-8 at times this season has been un-hittable and also has been terrible. What would a team get with Big Joe would be a good 4 or even better 5 pitcher for the stretch run. Blanton also brings playoff experience and World Series experience.

The clocks running down on the Phillies season and despite their third win in a row, sell time is here. Moving Blanton, won’t fetch you much but it might get the ball rolling.
