The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed right handed pitcher Logan Kensing, and have made the signing of left handed pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes official, per a team press release. Both pitchers were signed to minor league deals with invites to Spring Training.
We heard about the Reyes deal yesterday from Jenifer Langosch. Kensing, 29, spent the 2011 season with the Yankees’ AAA affiliate after missing the 2010 season recovering from elbow surgery. He was originally a second-round pick by Florida in 2003. In his career in the majors, Kensing has a 5.81 ERA in 161 innings, with an 8.0 K/9 and a 4.9 BB/9 ratio. His best season was in 2008 when he made 48 appearances, with a 4.23 ERA in 55.1 innings, along with an 8.9 K/9 and a 5.4 BB/9 ratio.
Both pitchers will likely be used as depth out of AAA.
