If you looked at David Price‘s win-loss record and ERA you would think he stunk in 2011, but it’s actually the opposite. While Price’s fantasy value fell last year he actually pitched better than ever. He posted career bests in strikeout rate (23.8 K%, 8.75 K/9) and walk rate (6.9 BB%, 2.53 BB/9) and FIP (3.32). With some better luck, Price should be able to get back to the elite level we all saw him approaching before his disappointing 2011 season.
Best case scenario: Felix Hernandez (SEA)
Similar players: Zack Greinke (MIL), James Shields (TB), CC Sabathia (NYY)
Worst case scenario: Gio Gonzalez (WAS)
Strengths
Strikeouts, wins. In 2010, Price won 19 games so there’s no reason to believe he can’t approach that number again. The Rays have become perennial contenders and Price should have plenty of run support to get his fair share of wins.
Weaknesses
Consistency. While Price upped his strikeouts and lowered his walks, he regressed in F-Strike% (62.2% ...
