Sons of Steve Garvey:
DODGERS 4, ASTROS 3
Cy Ortiz held the Dodgers in check, allowing two runs over six innings. How? The top of the Dodgers' lineup was flat as the nickel above, with the one- through four-hitters going 0-for-14. But Alberto Arias gifted the Dodgers with two extra outs in the seventh, which they cashed in for the tying run. Then Matt Kemp (3-for-4 in the seven-hole) hit the go-ahead home run off LaTroy Hawkins and Jonathan Broxton pitched a classic 1-2-3 ninth to salvage the split.
Unfortunately, Orlando Hudson injured his problematic left wrist in the fifth. Vin passed along that the O-Dog is day-to-day (aren't we all?*). Jason Schmidt starts tomorrow. At the very least, it'll be an interesting Monday.
