Quick thoughts on Dynamic Pricing & Renewal Date

The deadline for for fans to renew their season tickets for next season is November 7, Mets EVP of Business Operations Dave Howard said on a conference call with bloggers last night. According to Howard Megdal, last season the deadline for renewal was December 15. Also yesterday, the Mets said they are ditching the multi-level pricing system they have used in the past; and instead they are switching to a “dynamic pricing” plan for select, single-game seats. In other words, in certain sections, the team will raise ticket prices for games in high demand, but also lower ticket prices for games in less demand. I have some concerns here… In regards to the renewal date of Nov. 7, how are fans supposed to know who they’re plunking down big bucks to watch; considering the free agent market will only have been a few days underway at that point. It seems to me, to accurately judge whether to renew or not, it would help to know who we will be paying to see, i.e., will Jose Reyes be on the ro...
