PLAYERS: Kyle McClellan
TEAMS: Texas Rangers
Kyle McClellan's rough spring with the Texas Rangers took another bad turn Saturday as he was diagnosed with a strain of his right lat muscle. The right-hander is expected to be out three to four weeks before being able to resume a throwing program. McClellan, a non-roster invitee, was slowed at the beginning of spring training by right shoulder soreness. He's made just one spring appearance for Texas, pitching two scoreless innings. He has an out in his contract with the Rangers that he can exercise Friday. McClellan, who was supposed to be stretched out as a starter but had success in the bullpen for St. Louis, had surgery to repair a frayed labrum and split in his right shoulder capsule last July. He showed up in Surprise early and said he was 100 percent.

Kinsler still best when it comes to West 2B

The Texas Rangers still may have the best second baseman in the American League West but the competition is closing on Ian Kinsler. Kinsler had a sub-par season in 2012 by his standards and the consistent play of Howie Kendrick has allowed him to close the gap. The West did add an All-Star at second base this year with the addition of Houston's Jose Altuve. The other West teams...

Beltre still the best when it comes to West 3B

Adrian Beltre isn't just the best third baseman in the American League West. If you ask Texas manager Ron Washington, he's the best in the game. He doesn't have much competition in the West either, as every other team has some deficiencies at the hot corner. Here's a breakdown of third base in the West and the team rankings. Texas As good as Josh Hamilton was...

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Robbie Ross excelled out of the bullpen last year for the Texas Rangers. He hopes to do the same as a starter in 2013. Mitch Moreland hit a two-run homer off Carlos Villanueva, Ross pitched three scoreless innings and the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago Cubs 8-5 in a matchup of split squads. Ross didn't make things easy on himself, though, stranding six runners...

30-1 MLB countdown: #15 Rangers

As we move down to the top half of the 30-1 MLB countdown preview page, lets get one thing straight. While there could be some teams from 16-20 that can make legitimate pushes for a wild card spot, most of the first half of teams probably will not make a serious run. Of course this is my opinion, and I have been wrong before. But all teams from this point forward are good teams,...
