According to TR Sullivan of <a href="http://trsullivan.mlblogs.com/2011/11/21/rangers-sign-joe-nathan/"MLB.com, the Rangers will sign RHP Joe Nathan. Nathan recently told Newsday he will consider joining the Mets as their closer this winter. The 37-year-old Nathan, who is from Pine Bush, New York, was at SUNY Stony Brook last month to dedicate their new baseball field. Jon Heyman of SI.com recently said that Nathan is looking to sign a new contract as a closer and not as a setup guy.

Mets show interest in Jack Wilson

The Mets are going to need a back-up middle infielder on the bench, if Ruben Tejada goes down for anymore then a few days Justin Turner can't fill in at shortstop. Not only can't Turner cover the position but there isn't a replacement level player in Buffalo.  Wilson would be a solid pick-up, not only for the bench but as a mentor to an inexperienced Murphy and young...

The more I think about the possibility of Ruben Tejada and Daniel Murphy as the likely Mets’ shortstop and second base combo in 2012, the more I want to cringe. This sounds like a disaster in the making… Does defense matter anymore? My concern about this led me to do some quick digging at Baseball Reference:Since 2007, Ruben Tejada has started a total of 103 games at shortstop...

Yoenis Cespedes too big a swing...

Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes has been receiving interest from multiple teams and is believed to be looking for a multi-year, major league deal. Some Mets fans have suggested that the Mets should look at him as their center fielder.  I think because of the interest level he will be too rich for the Mets taste, besides these international, multi-year major league deals are too risky...
