Rays' Scott back on DL

DH Luke Scott went back on the DL for the second time, this time due to what the team is calling a mild strain of his right external oblique. Scott had been one of the Rays' hottest hitters over the previous two weeks after missing 17 games due to back stiffness. "It's been very, very tough," Scott said. "I used to just come into the training room to...

MLB Trade Deadline looming, The Tampa Bay Rays Must Make Some Moves

The Tampa Bay Rays opened the second half of the MLB season with a season high 10-game home stand. Instead, the Rays floundered, squandered some quality pitching and took just four of their ten games and now find themselves in a very precarious...

PETERSBURG It was Star Wars promotional day at the Trop Sunday afternoon, with many fans dressing up in the costumes of their favorite characters and Darth Vader even throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Even the hapless Tampa Bay Rays offense got in the act, once again wielding sabers that were light indeed. The result was a second consecutive 2-1 loss to the last-place...

A lack of clutch hitting has hurt the Tampa Bay Rays recently as they've struggled to put together a significant run over the last month. Tampa Bay has had trouble this weekend with Seattle, which has the AL's second-worst record...

After a tough Wednesday night loss, Price stepped up with seven solid shutout innings to lead the Rays to a 6-0 matinee victory and a four-game series split with the Indians. "David was outstanding," manager Joe Maddon said. "He had once again great command of his fastball, started mixing in some other...

Rays 6 Indians 0: David Price Is Good at Baseball, Aaron Cunningham Isn’t

This is going to be one of those recaps that writes itself. Really, I could sum it up in a few short sentences (but what fun would that be!): David Price is a great young pitcher. He is left-handed. He entered the game 4-0 with a 2.01 ERA in five career starts against the Indians. The Tribe is not exactly what you would call an offensive juggernaut. Left-handed pitchers have little...
