On the status of his negotiations with the agents for Jose Reyes:
“We’ve had a couple of face to face meetings, but I wouldn’t call them substantive in terms of a contract negotiation…Once the exclusive period ends, and other offers roll in, then I think things become more substantive and perhaps even more frequent than they were before…”
On his idea of what an appropriate contract should be for Reyes:
“We have some idea of that..From our standpoint, it remains to be seen whether the market reflects that thinking, or something beyond that, or something less than that, and that’s what we all need to see, including Jose’s representatives.”
On determining Reyes’ value:
“I think you have to keep two things in mind…One is the immediate organizational context…What makes sense for u
