Josh Reddick and Brandon Moss of the Oakland Athletics visited an 11-year old boy Monday who was injured a week ago in the bombings at the Boston Marathon. Moss and Reddick, who both previously played for the Red Sox, are in town for the start of a three-game series Monday night against the Red Sox. They spent time at Boston's Children's Hospital, visiting Aaron Hern, who is from the Oakland area, and had his left leg hit by shrapnel in the bombings. ''It was awesome,'' Reddick said after a 9-6 loss to the Red Sox. ''Just to meet a family from the California area who had been through just as much as this whole city has, and to just brighten up their day and kind of get their minds off of what happened the whole week and forget where they're at for a few hours. It was big. ''And you could see the kid's face light up, and even the parent's faces light up. For us to be able to get them out of that hospital scene for a while, it wa...

Josh Reddick Meets Saddest Man Alive

And we may not stop there, he could be in the running for saddest man to have ever lived. According to Reddick's tweet last night, he met Lil Hogan here at Hogan's Beach, which is a Hulk Hogan-themed bar/restaurant in the Tampa area. Reddick and the Athletics are in town this weekend for a series with the Rays. Back to our friend here, though. Here are our options: He is...

Oakland Athletics Recall Pitcher Jesse Chavez

MLB News: The Oakland Athletics recalled pitcher Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Sacramento. The 29-year old who owns a 5.99 earned run average was doing decent in the strike out department for Sacramento, striking out more than one per inning in three starts. Fantasy Ramifications: Let history be the teacher here. A career 5.99 ERA is simply something that shouldn’t even be considered...

Oakland Athletics Option Pitcher Evan Scribner

MLB News: The Oakland Athletics optioned pitcher Evan Scribner to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday. While he did get shelled in his last appearance against the Tampa Bay Rays, giving up 4 earned runs in 3.0 innings pitched, truth be told, his season wasn’t really going that bad before it, allowing 2 earned runs in 7 innings. This is kind of a head scratching move as he was replaced...

Athletics’ Brett Anderson expects to make next start

Oakland Athletics left-handed starting pitcher Brett Anderson exited his last appearance early due to a sprained ankle, but he told reporters – including Jane Lee of MLB.com – that he’s “good to go” for his next scheduled start on Wednesday. Anderson suffered his ankle injury in the first inning of Friday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. He’s since thrown...

3 Stars of the game: Game 19

Power lead the Red Sox over the Oakland Athletics on a chilly night in Fenway. An early start (6:35) seemed like a good idea in afterthought seeing as the game still ended after 10pm. When the game ended it was a cold 41* in the park and many fans left early because of the weather. Those who remained were bundled up in their scarfs to watch the sox pull out the victory in the end...

A’s meet with young local victim of Boston Marathon bombing

Boston’s been to hell and back in the last week. It’s safe to say a lot of the wounds, both physical and emotional, have yet to fully heal. But, in town for a three-game set with the Red Sox, some of the A’s tried to lift the spirits of one bombing victim from the Bay Area. Brandon Moss and Josh Reddick, both of whom played for the Sox before coming to Oakland last year, accompanied...

Rays Sweep A’s Out of Tampa Bay, Next Up Boston…

Heading into the weekend series against the Rays the story had been about the A’s had already recorded three sweeps on the early season (two against the Houston Astros and one against the Los Angeles Angels). Unfortunately, the A’s were the ones who were swept this weekend at the hands of Tampa Bay. Tommy Milone was touched up for eight hits and six runs, four earned, in 6.2...

3 Stars of the game: Game 20

At about noon today I thought it would be fun to see how much Red Sox tickets were on stubhub and well the cheapest ones were $7.50. I couldn't pass up a night in Fenway for that price no matter what the weather forecast was. Well turns out that was a bad idea, a very bad idea. It rained all night, Aceves was awful, the bats were silent for the Sox and the game was called after...
