But the rest of us closed the file on Wily Mo Pena quite a while ago, because he hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2008. That year, he hit just .205/.243/.267 for the Nationals with only two homers in 195 at-bats. Washington eventually released him, and that was that ... until Tuesday. We're pleased to report that WILY MO IS BACK. Excellent, excellent news. Thrilling. He's been lurking in the minors over the past three seasons, with stops in multiple farm systems and a 39-game visit to an independent team in 2010. Pena has absolutely killed the ball at Triple-A Reno this season — he leads the Pacific Coast League in homers (21), RBIs (63) and OPS (1.165) — so the Diamondbacks finally made the call.
