New York Yankees ace, CC Sabathia, is eligible for activation from the 15 day DL on Thursday of this week. According to a report on Tuesday night from Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York, Sabathia sounds ready to make a scheduled return and pitch against the Cleveland Indians on Friday.
Sabathia was sent to the 15 day DL on August 9th due to inflammation in his left elbow. It was always assumed the he would not spend a significant amount of time on the DL past the 15 designated days.
Sabathia tossed a total of 38 pitches on Tuesday and the team did indicate that he was pain free following the workout.
Sabathia wants to pitch on Friday, but keep a close eye on the situation if you’re a Sabathia owner. It wouldn’t kill the Yankees to give Sabathia a couple of more days off before they put him back in the rotation, so don’t be surprised if they keep him off the mound once Friday rolls around.

For the second straight night the Yankees lost to the White Sox in the Windy City, 7-3.
Starter Ivan Nova couldn’t command his fastball, and since the All-Star break he is 1-4 with an ERA of 7.28, and opposing batters are hitting a .316 against him.
I am a big fan of Nova but the Yankees need a lot more from him especially at this time of year, and also...
From Bryan Hoch:Pedro Feliciano hasn't thrown a pitch for the Yankees since signing a two-year, $8 million contract, but there is hope that may be about to change.
Feliciano pitched a scoreless inning on Saturday for the Gulf Coast Yankees, the lefty reliever's third outing for the club, and manager Joe Girardi is hopeful that Feliciano will be able to see time at the...
From SI.com:New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was arrested early Monday morning for driving under the influence, reports the New York Post‘s Dan Mangan.
Pineda, who is out for the season after having shoulder surgery in April, ”had a fixed gaze and his eyes were bloodshot, watery and glassy” when he was stopped in Tampa, Fla., according to the arresting officer’s...
Performances out of a baseball team's bullpen can be contagious, as the Yankees pen proved last night. After Freddy Garcia created a jam in the fifth inning, relievers Eppley, Rapada, Chamberlain, Logan and Lowe combined to allow 4 runs on 7 hits, including 3 home runs, all leading to a 9-6 loss to the White Sox.Eppley, Rapada and Logan have been great all season long. Lowe...
2012 just went from bad to worse for the young Yankees hurler after he was arrested early Monday morning for drunk driving.
Through four innings Monday, Freddy Garcia looked like the same pitcher who had helped stabilize the New York Yankees' rotation for nearly two months since Andy Pettitte went down with a fractured leg. After Garcia's bend-but-don't-break approach worked in the first two innings against the White Sox, the veteran right-hander settled in and retired six of seven batters...
New York Yankees 6 — Chicago White Sox 9
Yankees scored early but the White Sox scored late in tonight’s 9-6 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
Freddy Garcia struggled in tonight’s game when he could not finish the 5th. In 4.1 innings of work, Garcia’s control was absent with 4 walks despite striking out 8. Garcia was hurt by former Yankee Dewayne Wise when he hit a two...
The Yankees lost to the White Sox 2-1 on Wednesday and were swept in a three-game series. In light of the sweep, it’s no surprise that manager Joe Girardi wasn’t in the best of moods after the game. In fact, he even stopped a press conference with reporters to confront a heckler.
“Yankees swept, yes!” the heckler yelled, before Girardi began his press conference.
New York Yankees 3 — Chicago White Sox 7
Former Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis hit a 5th inning grand slam in tonight’s 7-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
Ivan Nova struggled in his 6 innings of work. In his start tonight, 7 hits resulted in 6 runs on just 84 pitches. The big blow came in the 5th inning when Kevin Youkilis got to Nova for a go-ahead grand slam. Ivan...

Nick Swisher will be a free agent after this season ends, and reports of his estimated price tag took an interesting turn this week. Swisher, it has been said, could draw a "Jayson Werth contract" this offseason. That terminology is now MLB shorthand for $126 million over seven years, or, by alternate definitions, lunacy. The Washington Nationals were widely -- and rightly...
Leave it to the Little League World Series to take my mind off a Yankees team who dropped their second straight game to White Sox last night. The loss and Ivan Nova's continuing troubles have been easily relegated to the back burner of my mind, because history was made in Williamsport yesterday. As you probably know, the team from Uganda became the first African team to win a...
CHICAGO - A Nova is supposed to be a bright, shining type of star. But a Nova of another kind - the New York Yankees' Ivan Nova - has been anything but bright and shining of late. In fact, you might say he's looking less like a star and more like a rusty, banged up Chevy Nova from the 1970s that's not hitting on all cylinders. In eight starts since the All-Star break...
At the end of July, Boston Red Sox manager was talking about the chances that his team could still make the 2012 MLB Playoffs. At the time, Boston was in last place in the American League East, and the New York Yankees were well ahead of the rest of the division in first place. It seemed a foregone conclusion that New York would clinch a postseason berth, as well as...
Roger Clemens signed a contract on Monday to play for the Sugar Land (Texas) Skeeters of the South Atlantic Independent League. The 50 year-old pitcher last appeared in MLB for the New York Yankees during the 2007 season.
There are several images that come to mind:
New York Yankees announcer Suzyn Waldman infamous gushing over the return of Clemens in the owners box.
