Major League Baseball is investigating an incident between Tampa Bay Rays left-hander David Price and umpire Tom Hallion, the Tampa Bay Times is reporting. To recap: Price accused Hallion, 56, of cursing at him following Prices final out of an eventual 8-3 Tampa Bay Rays victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.According to Price, Hallion, then at home plate, told him to throw the ball over the f--- plate as the pitcher walked off the field in the seventh inning. (Earlier, Price had taken a step toward his dugout after what he thought was a third strike for the final out against batter Dewayne Wise.)Rays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson, sitting in the dugout at the time of the exchange between Price and Hallion, was ejected after allegedly responding to the umpire. Hallion, to a pool reporter after the game, called Price a liar when told of the players account of the events. Price reacted with a number of pointed tweets after the game, including one that alluded to Hallion as a coward. Had my back after what everyone in dugout heard what the ump said...RT @rsieber6: @davidprice14 what did @jhell58 do to be ejected? David Price (@DAVIDprice14) April 28, 2013Someone give me the definition of a coward please David Price (@DAVIDprice14) April 28, 2013Right and the most quiet guy in mlb got ejected from the game RT @looneybird14999: @davidprice14 Ump says you lied to reporters... David Price (@DAVIDprice14) April 28, 2013Someone please give me the definition of accountability... David Price (@DAVIDprice14) April 28, 2013There are a number of possible outcomes. Hallion, whose first year as an MLB umpire was 1985, could be disciplined if Rays players account of events proves to be true. However, even if thats the case, Price andor other players could be disciplined for violating MLBs social media policy, which was released in March 2012. The policy states that players cannot write content that questions the impartiality of or otherwise denigrates a Major League umpire. In addition to Prices responses, tweets from Hellickson and Rays left-hander Matt Moore could be investigated. There's only one person lying about all this and his name starts with a T and rhymes with pom Jeremy Hellickson(@JHell58) April 28, 2013Unbelievable someone would mis remember so quickly. Stay in your lane. Nobody cares what you have to say. tom Matt Moore(@MattyMoe55) April 28, 2013
