The last two seasons, the Colorado Rockies were built for the World Series. In 2008, they “improved” from the team that made the World Series the year before. The only common theme for those three seasons is that the Rockies disappointed by not making the playoffs. Their two successful seasons, 2007 and 2009, featured improbable streaks that propelled the teams into the playoffs.
I can tell you the excuses for each season that General Manager Dan O’Dowd and the Rockies have given. In 2008 it was injuries. In 2009 it was manager Clint Hurdle (which proved to be true). In 2010, the young talent had yet to develop and in 2011, it was a lack of character in the locker room. On top of that, everyone the Rockies let go was not motivated and only played for themselves.
