Ken Gurnick confirms the rumor that the Dodgers DFA'd Ronnie Belliard today. This move was long overdue as Belliard simply couldn't pull his own weight in 2010. Belliard, 35, was just plain lousy as he managed to post a line of .216/.295/.327 with 2 home runs and a whopping 19 RBI's in 162 at bats. Belliard had nothing left to offer at this point in the season. He can't hit off the bench, his glove leaves little to be desired, and he simply can't hit a baseball to save his life. Belliard is far from anything special at this point and is only eating up a roster spot. Problem solved as he was sent packing and immediately removed from the 40-man roster. I would say you will be missed, but that would just be a terrible lie...moving on.Replacing Belliard on the Dodgers roster is non other than the speedster Trent Oeltjen. Oeltjen, 27, hit .320/.382/.525 at the AAA level this season. Can't do any worse than Belliard did right?
