In a late-night maneuver, the Mets announced Manny Acosta will join the Mets and Pedro Beato will go down to Buffalo AAA. But that means the Mets still need to clear room for Harvey's activation Tuesday. There have been strong indications Lucas Duda could be that casualty. Acosta tossed two scoreless innings Monday night for Buffalo against Charlotte. In seven weeks in Triple-A, he had a 2.28 ERA in 17 appearances spanning 28 innings.

Second Half Failure Will Be Good For The Mets

I know what your thinking..The Mets are well on their way to making the 2012 season nothing more than an afterthought.  The fact is your probably right, and that’s exactly what needs to happen if the organization is to find its way back to the promise land sooner than later.  With the semi-successful first half, many Mets fans (myself included) allowed themselves to buy into...

Malaise Setting In As Listless Mets Fall To Nationals 5-2

Oh no, not another Joe D. game recap… Embrace the horror my friends. Nothing we do now will change anything. The time to strike was when the Mets were winning and they needed a general manager who could sustain that glorious run when the Mets never spent a day under ,500 and staked a solid claim on the National League Wild Card. You snooze, you lose. Sandman fell asleep at the...

Schadenfreude rekindles interest in the 2012 Mets season

I need a smile. Seemingly all of the goodwill built up by the Mets’ strong play at the beginning of the year has melted away after the All-Star break. I watch games now expecting bad things to happen and that’s not how I wish to be a fan. Need something, anything, to break this cycle to get back to being an optimist in order to enjoy the rest of the baseball season. And I think...

Yes, Bobby Bonilla Was Paid $1,193,248.20 From The Mets This Year

That led to: “Is Bonilla still getting paid by the Mets?” Um, yes, and Bobby received check #2 this year of his 25-year run of $1,193,248.20 checks from the team for deferring his salary...

Struggling Mets must right themselves soon

They fought as they always do, but this time a ninth-inning rally to tie the game prevent an inevitable loss, or the humbling reality that came along with the defeat. The New York Mets, a feel-good, scrappy story throughout the first half, have fallen below .500 for the first time all season. The players were left grasping for answers after Sunday's 8-3, 12-inning loss to...

The 2012 Mets: Something’s Got To Give

I think it’s safe to say the Dog Days have arrived – that all-too-familiar time when one day runs into the next and it seems like no one has any energy. People get edgier this time of year, tempers shorten and frustration lengthens. If you’re a fan of the Mets, the Dog Days started just before the All-Star Game. Talk about being edgy and frustrated… The Mets have returned...
