Roy Halladay loves Charlie Manuel. But, all the same, the rehabbing pitcher says that it was time for a change in Philadelphia. Manuel was fired as manager of the Phillies on Friday, in a lot of ways putting an end to the team’s glory days surrounding its 2008 and 2009 World Series runs. Still, Halladay, who on Tuesday was pitching for the Low-A Lakewood BlueClaws, says that the team’s struggles may not be just because of an aging roster and questionable decisions on the part of general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. Halladay says that the Phillies just didn’t have as much discipline as they used to. “Obviously, I loved [Manuel]. He was great,” Halladay told reporters after his rehab start. “But from what I’ve seen, Ryne [Sandberg] came in and made some changes and addressed some issues that I think were being overlooked. So from that standpoint, as much as I miss Charlie, I think that Ryne’s going to do a good job and I think he’s going to bring back a little more of the Phillie baseball ...

Roy Halladay, image- Jay Floyd Roy Halladay completed a moderately fair rehab effort with the Phillies’ Class A club on Tuesday night and did so with no ill effects.  However, the biggest story out of Lakewood, NJ may have been that the ace right-hander seemed to declare that the recent switch at the managerial position for the big league team was long overdue. Immediately following...

Cancelled: Charlie Manuel Party

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Friday’s party with Charlie Manuel has been cancelled. With an influx of new found time on his hands and life-altering decisions still to be made, we certainly have to forgive Charlie for the misunderstanding. We’re very sorry for getting everyone’s hopes up. Charlie does feels awful for having to cancel, and was very moved that...

Halladay Says Comments on Manuel “Lost in translation”

Something didn’t seem right. Roy Halladay has never been the kind of person to throw a manager or coach under the bus. Here are yesterday’s comments following his start at Lakewood. Below are today’s: ...

Charlie Manuel Deserved A Better Ending

One week ago today, Charlie Manuel managed his 1,416th regular-season game as the skipper of the Philadelphia Phillies. Some thoughts on Charlie Manuel, Ruben Amaro and why the Phillies had to do what they did

I wanted to wait and see how I felt about everything after the weekend before really diving in to the news of the Philadelphia Phillies firing Charlie Manuel and naming Ryne Sandberg as the interim manager Friday afternoon. In brief, it had to be done but not quite in this fashion. Overall, I am OK with what transpired. Removing Charlie Manuel as manager now was the right decision...

Phillies updates: Roy Halladay to move to Double-A, Jonathan Pettibone to get MRI

Sometimes a season can become more about the future than it is the present.  That's what the Philadelphia Phillies' season has morphed into.  Who will be on the roster next season?  Who will be healthy?  Who will be traded?  With injuries and uncertainty, many of those questions will not be answered until next spring, but for now, here's an update on Roy Halladay...
