OK, so I take back everything I said about "Jose Reyes" being a terrible name for Jerry Seinfeld's new dog. Don't get me wrong: I still contend that he doesn't want a lifelong reminder of a big disappointment every time the hound rubs against his feet or digs up his garden. He should have gone the safe route and named him 'Kranepool.'

According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the Mets have signed RF Adam Loewen to a minor league contract.
Loewen, who will be 28 in April, is a converted pitcher and has primarily played right field since 2008. He hit .306 with a .377 on base percentage with 17 home runs and 85 RBI in 134 games with Triple-A Las Vegas in 2011. He’s a career .188 hitter in 14 big league games.
