Mariners starter Erasmo Ramirez left Saturday night's game against Boston in the third inning with an undisclosed injury after retiring the first eight batters. With two outs in the inning, Ramirez threw a first-pitch strike to Boston's No. 9 hitter Mike Aviles. After throwing the pitch, Ramirez signaled for Seattle catcher Miguel Olivo. When Olivo got to the mound, he signaled to the dugout for the trainer. The previous batter, Ryan Kalish hit a comebacker to the mound that Ramirez had to reach high above his head to snag, but there were no obvious signs Ramirez was injured. Ramirez was replaced by Charlie Furbush, but Seattle was without regular long-reliever Hisashi Iwakuma as he is scheduled to start in place of Kevin Millwood on Monday night. Millwood left his last start with an injured groin muscle.
