PLAYERS: David Wright
TEAMS: New York Mets

Via Beer Mug Sports:

Funny-man and die-hard Mets fan Jerry Seinfeld hit Twitter after third baseman David Wright connected a solo home run to right-center field for his 12th homer of the year during the ninth inning at Nationals Park on Wednesday night.

The ball sailed just over a sign for reruns of Seinfeld's show on DC's CW Network as Nats outfielders Rick Ankiel and Bryce Harper looked on. Watch the video here.

Unfortunately for Jerry, the Mets fell short of a rally in the ninth inning and lost 4-3, marking their sixth straight loss. Ouch, tough times. Must be hard for him to watch this skid while sitting at home on the couch next to the puppy he named Jose Reyes back in November.

Santana & The Soggy Mets: Mets Lineup V. Dodgers - July 20, 2012

If the Mets get this game in tonight, it will be against the Dodgers. With the weather being absolutely cloudy and wet in NY, chances are they might be a future double header. Tonight Mr. No-no will take the hill against the Dodgers, and hopefully Johan and the Mets can build upon the win yesterday that halted a 6 game losing streak. Now is the time for the Mets to put together a nice 6 or 7

For the Mets, relief may have to come from within

It’s no secret that the Mets bullpen has been problematic all season long.  As a whole the Mets are the only team with a bullpen ERA over 5 and rank dead last in the majors in that category. So with the trade deadline approaching and the Mets ship heading in a sinking direction, fans have called for the front office to plug the holes.  This is an understandable cry for help...

Are You Worried About Johan Santana?

I’m sure you all remember the tearful post-game presser by Terry Collins on the night of June 1, 2012. That was the historic date of Johan Santana’s no-hitter, the first in Mets franchise history. Collins had originally intended to cap Johan’s pitches at 115, and you could se him agonizing after every pitch that went beyond that. At one point, Collins walked to the mound to...

It seems so long ago that the Mets were fun to watch

New York Mets manager Terry Collins called a players-only meeting prior to Wednesday night’s game versus the Washington Nationals and his team responded by dropping their sixth straight game and nine out of their last ten, remaining winless in the second half. With the 4-3 loss to the Nats, NY dropped to 46-45 and 5 games behind the NL Wild Card leaders: It seems so long ago that...

Mets Drop Tough Game To Nats In Extras, 5-4

Holy hell, what a game. Summary This one tailed into extra innings and had a real playoff atmosphere to it. The biggest flaw of the Mets was exposed AGAIN as the bullpen could not hold down leads in the ninth or tenth inning. This is not a recap I will enjoy writing, but there were positives to take away from this game. It was Jon Niese vs Ross Detwiler in a hell of a pitching duel...

Thoughts on tonight’s starting lineup

1) Ruben Tejada SS 2) Daniel Murphy 2B 3) David Wright 3B 4) Ike Davis 1B 5) Lucas Duda RF 6) Jason Bay LF 7) Andres Torres CF 8) Josh Thole C 9) Johan Santana LHP Obviously the biggest story tonight is if Johan Santana can get back to his pre-no-hitter self. Since throwing the franchises first no-hitter Santana is 3-4 with a 5.67 ERA in 39 innings pitched. Terry...

Mets Second Half Preview

By SBRForum.com The Mets have been quite profitable in the MLB odds through the first half of the season.  Should we expect more of the same in the second half? As of now New York sits in third place in the NL East, behind the upstart Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves. They’re 26-20 at home and 21-25 on the road for a total record of 47-45 as of July 20. And, while the...

Jerry Seinfeld tweets about Mets home run that goes over Seinfeld advertisement (Video)

If you were paying attention last night to comedian Jerry Seinfeld's Twitter account, you might have heard about this incident. During last night's Mets/Nationals game in Washington D.C, Mets slugger David Wright hit a home run that traveled over the right field wall. In the right field wall, a video board had an advertisement for reruns of Seinfeld on the local CW...

Bullpen Blows Another One as Mets Fall to Nationals 5-4.

The Mets needed a big-time performance from Jon Niese tonight. They got that but found themselves on the wrong end of a pitchers duel for eight innings. Down 2-0 in the top of the ninth, Jordany Valdespin sent a Tyler Clippard pitch into the right-centerfield seats for a three-run homer to give the Mets a 3-2 lead. Then the Met bullpen showed their true colors yet again. Bobby Parnell...

Something Needs to Change in This Bullpen…

Tonight, the Met offense provided the bullpen with two opportunities to close out the Nationals, and the bullpen could not do the job in either circumstance and fell to the Nationals 5-4. After Jordany Valdespin hit yet another big homer for the team in the ninth inning to take the lead, Bobby Parnell couldn’t hold the lead.  And then in the 10th after a big two-out hit off of...

Clown Bullpen Bro

When you think about it really, the whole day wasn't one of the Mets' finer days.First, we found out that even though Matt Harvey was solid against the Toledo Mud Hens, that we would still have to be subjected to one more Miguel Batista start on Saturday. Then, we got to endure eight innings of Jason Bay and his uselessness and his double plays and his attempted sacrifice...

Nationals 5, Mets 4(10)

Pedro Beato threw a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the 10th inning that allowed the winning run to score, and the Washington Nationals rallied for a 5-4 victory after blowing a late lead Tuesday night. The Nationals fell behind twice after leading 2-0 going into the ninth. Mets pinch-hitter Jordany Valdespin hit a three-run homer off closer Tyler Clippard. But Danny Espinosa...

Video: Mike Piazza’s former playmate wife thinks Roger Clemens had roid rage

Sometimes we get an excellent sound bite from athletes, but even less frequently, we get it from their wives. Former New York Mets great Mike Piazza and his former playmate wife Alicia Rickter were caught on camera by TMZ and asked about whether or not they believe if Roger Clemens was using performance-enhancing drugs during [...]

Alderson Has Visions Of Valdespin In Center

Earlier this week Mets GM Sandy Alderson made some very interesting comments regarding Jordanny Valdespin. As a guest with Mike Francesa on WFAN Alderson made the following comments in regards Jordanny’s versatility and trying to find a spot for him in the lineup. He said ”dreaming a bit, if Valdespin could play center we might have something. “He brings athleticism, he‘s...
